Unique qualities about my Art:

Every painting is original- this means it’s the only one in the whole world!
Paintings are authentic- all are based on real NZ locations that I’ve experienced myself.
All artwork is made with high quality artist supplies, and prepared as archivally as possible to last many years.
My painting process involves a combination of working from photos, life, memory and imagination.

About the Artist

I’m an oil painter born and raised in New Zealand, who paints moments I wish could last forever.

When I’m out in nature I look on in awe at the way light and atmosphere bring a touch of extraordinary to an ordinary scene. Whether it’s a river is draped in fog, or a setting sun lighting up the trees up with that golden glow, I am moved to notice these experiences and translate them from fleeting to permanent. I capture a scene through photos, memory, and painting from life, and collate these into a hand drawn digital design. This is then painted on panel with soft glowing realism, and a passing moment becomes everlasting.

I have no idea what came first, my love of creating or my love of being outdoors! This partnership is what has and will continue to compel me to make landscape paintings. Delighting in the view speaks deeply to me of a God who loves us, a world who’s wonders we will never exhaust, and a peace in knowing that we are important- yet a small part of a much bigger world. There is just as much beauty in “nowhere special” places for this reason as there is in popular tourist locations. Deep meaning can be found anywhere, and my hope for all who view my work is that the themes and visual qualities would resonate with your own story.

My work has been acquired by two public collections in NZ, has won several awards, and is collected nationally and internationally. I gained a Master of Design from Unitec in Auckland in 2013 and have been painting professionally since then.

I work from home in my outdoor studio in Hamilton during school term hours, while looking after my 3 lively children! I also teach an adults painting class at Waikato Society of Arts.
